Hardly any type of beer conveys the Bavarian attitude to life as well as a perfectly matured wheat beer. But when is that actually the case? “There’s flavour in tranquillity,” explains Marc Goebel, managing director of brewing operations at Maisel. “That’s why we brew our wheat beers according to the ‘Bavarian Noble Maturation’ brewing method that has been passed down for generations and has been certified with a quality seal since 2019.”
WIDE RANGE OF VARIETIES …
However, the great success of the Bayreuthbased family business goes far beyond its wellknown core product, Maisel’s Weisse. Along with the craft beer movement, new beer specialties have been continuously created under the name Maisel Friends since 2012. As the product range has expanded, so has the variety of bottles. The current range extends from 330 ml ALE, 500 ml NRW, 330 ml and 500 ml EURO, 500 ml SWINGTOP and 750 ml BELGIAN BEER bottles.
… ON ONE MACHINE
In order to be able to process the variety of formats even more precisely and efficiently, a new wet gluing machine was sought in 2023, on which different formats can be provided with up to four labels in addition to the swing-top bottles. “The main criteria for the purchase were high quality as well as cost and time savings,” explains Marc Goebel, “whereby we attach great importance on fast format changes, low susceptibility to faults and reproducible results. Challenges for our partner were the demanding space situation in the line and a tight schedule.”
CONVINCING PERFORMANCE
After a thorough analysis of the competition, RENNER emerged as the most suitable supplier with the best technical solution. This includes, among other things, the non-contact, servomotorized alignment of swing stopper bottles, which the selected S960 Syncro achieves with a tolerance of +/− 1.0 mm. RENNER mastered the challenging insertion situation as well as the required modification of the conveyors. After only one week of production downtime for dismantling, assembly and setup, the new machine started series operation as scheduled and has been running stably ever since. “We are very happy with our decision and are getting good feedback from the employees,” says Marc Goebel. “The new machine has enabled us to significantly increase our productivity. RENNER supported us optimally throughout the project and with good implementation ideas.”
“The technical implementation and constructive cooperation went smoothly.”
