More speed, a perfect labelling image, fast changeovers and reliable checks: These were the requirements that the sixthgeneration family-run brewery placed on its future labelling solution. But how to find the right supplier? The research and asking other members of ‘Die Freien Brauer’ association resulted in a clear
vote in favour of RENNER.
200 DIFFERENT PRODUCTS
The newly acquired RENNER S960 SERVO replaces the two existing wet glue labellers and consolidates all equipment on one machine. “Ultimately, we found the best combination of quality, efficiency and after sales service at RENNER,” explains Moritz Freiherr von Twickel, who has managed the private brewery since 2014. The fact that the changeover times were an important criterion is not least due to contract filling: Including its own brands Westheimer and LimoNAHde, the family business bottles around 200 products in the 0.5 litre NRW and 0.33 litre longneck formats. The 0.33 litre Steinie bottle is prepared.
SIMPLE OPERATION AND CLEANING
The simple programming and operation saves a considerable amount of time. “Once the product has been selected on the swivelling touch panel, the best before date printer, the control devices and the height of the wet glue unit are set automatically,” explains brewer Sebastian Cochior. “Manual tasks such as changing trimmings or format parts are requested by the machine, which avoids errors. The cleaning programme is also very practical.”However, there was still a small hurdle to overcome before the rapid commissioning, which only took about a week: Getting it into the bottling hall on the upper floor. With two cranes, this requirement was also mastered with aplomb under the astonished eyes of the workforce.
PERFECT LABELLING IMAGE
Servo-controlled bottle plates and the option of retrofitting a camera-based alignment system also allow individual or swing-top bottles to be labelled at a later date. “Investment in a modern bottle labeller from RENNER is an important step into the future for us,” explains Managing Director von Twickel. “We are also
demonstrating that tradition and modernity can go hand in hand.”
