This is already the third contract awarded to RENNER. In 2013, Weingut Schloss Fels, which belongs to SPAR Österreichische Warenhandels-AG, purchased a new combination machine for its extensive range of
wines. The RENNER S960 PSL self-adhesive labeller for spirits followed six years later. In the course of the comprehensive remodelling of the wine bottling hall, the first machine has now been replaced by the future-proof top model RENNER S1800 Module.
NEW BOTTLING HALL WITH MODULAR MACHINE
Why was the combination machine, which is only ten years old, not integrated into the new line as originally planned, when it could easily have run for another ten years? “The new arrangement of the dry and wet areas required a change in the direction of travel,” explains Daniel Bender, Technical Manager at Weingut Schloss Fels“, So it seemed to make more economic sense for us to use the latest technology and thus have more design options.”
PERFORMANCE AND SMOOTH RUNNING
The fully automated wine bottling plant in the newly built hall with photovoltaic system can produce up to 18,000 bottles per hour. With 81 stations, the filler offers more capacity than is currently required. This allows the system to run at a lower speed, which protects the technology and makes operation more stable. “The RENNER S1800 Module is also slightly larger with 30 bottle plates and therefore runs very smoothly,”
says Bender. “As usual, we can rely on RENNER’s technology, and the coordination with our partners also went without any hitches.”
FLEXIBLE SELF-ADHESIVE LABELLING
Around 55 products are currently being labelled with wet glue, self-adhesive labels or a combination of both on the new modular machine. The two selfadhesive modules with different technologies are a special feature: two Herma dispensers are installed on one, which can be operated in tandem non-stop mode, and a RENNER dispenser with AutoSplicer on the other, which automatically splices the ends of the label rolls together. “This constellation allows us to decide whether to give two self-adhesive labels to larger batches of one type in non-stop operation or up to three labels to smaller batches depending on requirements” reveals Daniel Bender. “This way, we save the need for a third module and still have plenty of options, such as adding a medal or a seal.”What other formats might be conceivable in future? Who knows, just in case, the winery has also ordered a camera system for optical container alignment.
“We have always felt that we were in good hands with RENNER. Once again, this was the right decision.”
